These free training workshops are for higher education faculty members looking to gain practical skills to teaching online. The lessons from these sessions will make your online teaching more engaging for students and more fun for you.

Carien Aalbers – Head of Academic Product

Carien is head of academic product at Hubble Studios. With 10 years’ experience in EdTech, she has worked across the product lifecycle, with a specific focus on learning experience design for academia, executive education and business. She is passionate about making an impact through digital education by creating – and enabling others to create – learning experiences that stick.

Session 1 – Analysis, Design and Development  

Analysis – Understanding your learners’ context, learning outcomes and education technologies at your disposal

Design – Interpreting requirements and translating this to a practical plan

  1. Creating a Learning Design Plan for Teaching Online
  1. Tools (learning activities) in your toolkit (categorised by programme categories, I.e. quantitative, qualitative or mixed) 
  1. How to think about synchronous vs asynchronous learning and time 

Development  

  1. Student experience  
  1. Best practice for PPT recordings  
  1. Best practice for creating discussion forums  
  1. Best practice for creating quizzes & question sets  
  1. Best practice for structuring readings & notes  
  1. Best practice for online summative assessment  

Session 2 – Implementation and Technology
